Anonymous – Clear WiMax and Clearwire Internet Review
I guess my experience is just a typical clearwire customer experience. The modem constantly shows 4-5 signal bars and I think there’s nothing wrong with reception. However, connection is dropped every couple minutes which render the “broadband serivce” useless and unusable!!! I need to get through a couple of dropped connections in order to complete a simple Amazon purchase (is this ridiculous? or is this I should have expected before signing up?).
Each time I need to copy all the things that I typed before getting to the next page in the fear that the connection may be dropped and I’ll need to retype everything. I’m deeply frustrated by the service. Even back in the good old 56k modem days you were not treated like this. 3G/4G/WiMax? How does it matter if the connection just does not “stick”?
Chatted with customer support online, and our conversation was dropped TWICE before they had a chance to ask me to reposition my modem and reboot everything. The result? You can guess.
Asked whether there is a service level agreement, yes, there is one but it only covers connection speed. Not dropped connections. I’ve been having the connection problem since last August and they can’t really help which leave me out in the cold. I really hope there’s a way out without being penalized.
I woke up on the last day of winter break wanting to hit up some Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 on XBox 360. Sure enough. I was able to hop on and play one to two games until boom. It became so slow I couldn’t even do something on my laptop which is only about 3 months old also. I was shocked to notice that I had 4-5 bars. FOUR I repeat FOUR to FIVE bars. I did a speedtest and it wasn’t even working haha. I go oh wow boy will they get it one of these days. I mean being a gamer and someone who downloads everyday its quite depressing to always get the bullshit that I am given from Clearwire and the satisfaction of knowing that they will FAIL one of these days and the world will be happier.
I THANK GOD that my contract will be expiring this month. Everyone else that still have their contracts hang tough and hang in there. I did and you can to. I defeintly feel your guys pain.

Same experience here–exactly, in every detail. Customer support cannot do anything but follow the script. Signal is unstable, but corporate arrogance cannot admit the problem is theirs, not some B.S. about where my modem is, or I should reboot my computer (which, like your experience, does nothing). Seems like this only came on *after* we were required to use their new and “better” modem. I have noticed no improvement at all, and a definite deterioration in the service. Better post this now, because my signal frazzes again.
I brought this internet service for my ps3 in April. And it was working great on the computer(4-5 bars) and so-so on the ps3 (2-3 bars sometimes 4), until this week. It began to disconnect again and again and over and over. But yesterday plug it to the ps3 (1pm) and it worked for 4 hours on cod:mw2. Stop playing. Played again (1am to 330am), worked fine. But now as I am writing this it disconnects every minute.Every time I click a page it drops
It drop again just as i submitted last comment
I’m finding the Clear service disappears completely after about 11pm and doesn’t come back until some time in the morning. It’s completely unusable, and their customer service couldn’t care less. Unfortunately, I’m stuck in a 2 year contract I can’t seem to get out of. :-(
